welcome to the mad T 55 addicts : very nice work Andy !! is it the Legend kit ?? i recognize the fuel cell.... but i don't understand why you created your own wheel ?? these kind of spyder exist in aftermarket....what color do you choice ? if it's the blue grey ALS could you tell me what paint because my own 55 waiting for the paint and i don't know which grey/blue use... thank

:rire2: Hi guy`s, sorry i dont speak French, but really appreciate the replys! Tommy i dont recall anyone making the correct spiderweb for the T-54 with the flattened hub caps and 12 bolt hub cap fixing?.. i know ones are available for the T-34?.. Cmd, Marquette, Dragon, ..maybe there are more i dont know about!!.. i cross kitted the Tamiya rim tyre, with the cmd spiderwheel centers!!!.. the ones you see here are cast by a friend of mine from the master i made, hopefully they will be available through the Trakx/vls name in the near future!.. The colour i will use is from the Humbrol range, number 87 i think..

exact, if you want the 12 bolt , you must scratch it ! but T 54 also have the 6 bolt hub..... with the 12 bolt, your 54 must be an very earlier type : i don't know when the 6 bolt spider enter in line, but the starfish come in 1952 or 55 (don't remember)....
humbrol 87 (matt steel grey) is a good match : thank !

en gros andy a fait un 54 de l'als et a scracher les roues pour avoir un modele correct et en a tirer des moules : il s'agit de la roue dite spider avec le centre a 12 boulons ; chez les fabricants, on le trouve a 6 boulons ; je lui ai fait remarquer que ca devait etre un modele precoce vu que les starfish (le modele suivant , le plus vu sur les 54/55) ; est arrivé en production en 52 ou 55 ; je lui ai aussi dit qu'on avait des spider a 6 boulons ; la question est : quelle plage arriere a t il fait pour un modele a roues a 12 boulons.....vaste sujet !!

He oui, j' ai fait des essais. J' ai refait une couleur gris bleu, j' ai les photos, mais mon pc etant au plus mal, je ne peux pas les poster pour l' instant. Je le ferai avec ma nouvelle becane debut janvier.

Tommy nous a fait une petite traduction.
Comme Andy ne parles pas français, on peut tout de meme pas l' ignorer:bravo: . On vas faire les efforts necessaires pour que cela passe pour les ceux -ce qui speak pas english.

je crois que je viens de trouver le bonb melange pour le gris bleu ALS : base tamiya matt blue + prince august bleu US 903 + blanc matt a rajouter pour eclaircir ou non....ca marche pas mal

Hi all, thanks for the encouraging words!!, Tommy going back to the wheels, i had a set of the cmd spiderwebs which are fine for the T-34, although the T-54 type are wider, so i removed the rim/tyre from the cmd wheel, and removed the centre of the Tamiya wheel, set the cmd center into the Tamiya wheel and had these cast.. i also altered the center caps, and added the extra bolts required.. Many thanks to Tim Roberts and Bruce Crosby for there help throughout the build, they proved invaluable as providers of info and pics!!, also to you Tommy for the many very nice pics i have seen posted from you!.. :bravo: .. Hopefully on the release of the Trumpeter T-62`s many Tiran 6`s will emerge!!..

ps, the cells are Legend, whilst other parts are sourced from Trakz,[ i felt the odd part were slightly better in scale, and detail than some of the Blast parts!... Other resin parts are from DC models[ unfortunately long out of production]

traduction for the french who didn't understand this topic :discute: : andy dit (andidi !!!) qu'il avait un kit cmd pour T 34 mais trop etroite pour 54 alors il a enlever l'interieur d'une roue cmd et l interieur d'une roue tamiya incrusté l'interieur cmd dans la roue tam vide, et en plus il a modifié le cache central et a rajouté les 6 boulons manquants...ouf!! apres ca il a fait des tirages resine !! simple non ??

Here is a pic of what the Tiran started out as!!, i initially built a model 51 T-54, but decided on adding all the features of a Tiran 4 i found on corbis which still retained the original soviet type front fenders. On this pic you can see the spiderweb wheel master i made combining the Tamiya and cmd wheels!!.. I will take a few close up shots of the engine deck area and post them soon..
